Fister's Game 3 start ends in the 2nd inning

BOSTON -- The Astros chased Red Sox right-hander Doug Fister in the second inning of Game 3 of the American League Division Series presented by Doosan on Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park.

Tapped to start a must-win game -- which the Red Sox did win, 10-3 -- Fister faced nine batters and recorded only four outs in the shortest postseason outing for Boston since Bret Saberhagen pitched one inning in Game 5 of the 1999 ALDS against the Indians.
Fister struggled to contain Houston's powerful lineup from the outset, surrendering an RBI single to and a two-run homer to that gave the Astros a 3-0 lead in the first inning.
Fister fell into trouble again in the second, issuing a leadoff walk to and allowing a single to Yuli Gurriel. Fister induced a lineout from for the first out of the inning, but manager John Farrell then called for reliever Joe Kelly to face .
Fister, who entered Sunday 3-0 with 2.00 ERA in three career starts in elimination games, walked off to a smattering of boos from the crowd.
