UCLA combines to strike out 30 batters, including epic 18-K start from '26 Draft prospect

UCLA right-hander Logan Reddemann had a game for the ages on Friday night. And then his teammates followed suit.

In a road matchup against Rutgers, Reddemann struck out a whopping 18 batters, tying Rob Henkel (2000) for the school record for the most strikeouts in a single game.

Even after Reddemann's exit, the Bruins kept racking up the K's. The trio of Cal Randall, Zach Strickland and Easton Hawk combined for 12 strikeouts over six innings of relief as UCLA's claimed its 25th consecutive win, 4-1, in a 14-inning emotional rollercoaster. The 30 combined punchouts falls just one whiff shy of the NCAA record, set by NC State back on March 4, 2009, against Akron, which came across 18 innings.

The quartet achieved the mark in efficient fashion, allowing just four hits and one run while incredibly walking just one batter.

While Reddemann is not currently a Top 100 Draft prospect, he is expected to join the list when MLB Pipeline expands its Draft rankings later this month. When that happens, Reddemann will join fellow Bruins Roch Cholowsky -- MLB Pipeline’s No. 1 Draft prospect -- and Mulivai Levu (No. 94) on the list.

With its win Friday, UCLA moved to 31-2 on the year, last having lost back on Feb. 24. They sit nine wins shy of tying the all-time Division I record of 34 straight victories, accomplished twice -- Texas in 1977 and Florida Atlantic in 1999.
