Ed Creech named East Coast Scout of the Year

Giants Senior Advisor of Scouting, Ed Creech, was honored Wednesday night at the Winter Meetings, when he was named East Coast Scout of the Year at the 33rd annual Scout of the Year reception.

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. - The San Francisco Giants Senior Advisor of Scouting, Ed Creech, was honored Wednesday night at the Winter Meetings, when he was named East Coast Scout of the Year at the 33rd annual Scout of the Year reception.
Creech, has spent over 39 years in professional baseball including the past eight seasons with the San Francisco Giants organization. He was originally drafted in the 2nd Round by the Montreal Expos in 1973 out of Mercer University. Prior to the Giants, he served as Pittsburgh's Director of Scouting. Creech has also been a Scouting Director with the Los Angeles Dodgers (1999-2001), St. Louis Cardinals (1998) and Montreal Expos (1994-97). 
As a widely respected baseball figure he has been a part of drafting many notable Giants that have contributed to the World Series titles including Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, Joe Panik, Brandon Belt, and Matt Duffy.
Other notable MVPs, All-Stars and Gold Glove winners include Javier Vazquez, Andrew McCutchen, J.D. Drew, Shane Victorino, Jack Wilson, Milton Bradley, Edwin Jackson, Tony Watson, and Matt Capps. Additional Major League players include Neil Walker (Silver Slugger), Jamey Carroll, Paul Maholm, Steve Pearce, Nyjer Morgan, Brian Schneider, Michael Barrett (Silver Slugger), and many others. Creech was also responsible for signing All-Stars Marquis Grissom and Rondell White as an Area Scout.
The Moultrie, Georgia native will also be recognized next month by the Pro Scouts Foundation as a MLB Scouting Legend at the 14th annual In the Spirit of the Game Event.
