CLEVELAND -- Twins left fielder Eddie Rosario left Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Indians at Progressive Field in the fifth inning with a right quad strain he sustained while running to first base in the fourth.
Rosario reached on an infield single off right-hander Mike Clevinger with one out in the fourth and was immediately looked at by manager Paul Molitor and trainer Tony Leo. Rosario remained in the game, but didn't run the bases, as the next two batters struck out to end the inning. But when the Twins took the field for the bottom of the fifth, Robbie Grossman had taken over in left field. Rosario was 1-for-2 before exiting.
"We'll probably find out tomorrow what we're looking at," Molitor said. "I would imagine he's not going to play in Texas. He said it was on the last step."
The 26-year-old has been the club's best all-around player this year, hitting .292 with 22 homers, 31 doubles and 74 RBIs in 130 games. He also hit .364 with six homers, five doubles and 12 RBIs in 19 games against Cleveland this year.
Rosario said he's not sure how long he'll be out and that he'd never experienced a similar injury.
"I feel in pain," Rosario said. "It just felt like I pulled my muscle. I was trying to play through it, but the pain is there."
