BOSTON -- Eduardo Rodriguez's fourth rehab start with Triple-A Pawtucket was pushed back to Saturday afternoon, as Friday night's game vs. the Gwinnett Braves was rained out.
Rodriguez, who twisted his right knee awkwardly in Spring Training while trying to catch a fly ball during batting practice, will start the first game of a seven-inning doubleheader, starting at 4:35 p.m. ET on Saturday.
In three rehab starts with Pawtucket, Rodriguez is 0-2 with a 4.70 ERA. In 15 1/3 total innings, he has given up nine runs (eight earned) on 17 hits, three home runs, with four walks and seven strikeouts. On Sunday against Rochester, he threw 93 pitches, 60 for strikes, in 5 2/3 innings.
"It being a seven-inning game, we would expect still the ability to get up to 100 pitches," said Red Sox manager John Farrell.
Rodriguez, who turned 23 in April, made his big league debut last season. In 21 starts, he was 10-6 with a 3.85 ERA. In 121 2/3 innings, he recorded 98 strikeouts.
