What had been a very strong start for Bryce Elder against the Dodgers on Sunday tailed off late; after getting two quick outs in the bottom of the sixth, the right-hander ended his day by walking each of the last three batters he faced to load the bases for Max Muncy.
Up 4-0, the Braves brought in Robert Suarez -- who came into the game having allowed just one run in 16 previous appearances this season -- unaware of who would actually be cutting the rally off.
It was Eli White, in right field, who had to track down a blistering 107 mph liner off Muncy's bat, ranging 59 feet back to make a leaping catch at the wall, robbing Muncy of at least a couple of RBIs, if not a full-on bases-clearing double.
White, who hit the outfield wall face-first on the back end of the play, briefly remained in the game and took his next at-bat in the top of the seventh before exiting and being placed in concussion protocols. But as if to point out just how much trouble he'd saved the Braves before he left, in his next plate appearance, Muncy hit a two-run home run -- his 10th on the year -- to the same spot in the ballpark.
