CINCINNATI — Elly De La Cruz doesn't like getting days off and only slightly less dislikes being the designated hitter like he was in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader vs. the Cardinals. But De La Cruz delivered the biggest hit of the game with an RBI double in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 6-5 Reds win to get a split.
Leading off a 5-5 game in the 10th, De La Cruz worked a full count before getting a hard hit past the third baseman as Tyler Stephenson scored the go-ahead run.
The Reds trailed, 5-4, with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning when Dane Myers delivered with a game-tying home run to left field against reliever Peter Strzelecki. It was Myers' second homer of the day after he also worked an 11-pitch duel to get a fourth-inning long ball to left field in Game 1's 2-1 loss.
Emilio Pagán worked around a one-out walk in the top of the 10th inning and struck out two batters to get the victory.
