Padres triple, homer to open Game 2 in Mexico

MONTERREY, Mexico -- The Padres were no-hit Friday in Monterrey, but they wasted no time with a response on Saturday evening.
opened the bottom of the first by lining a triple into the right-center-field gap. One pitch later, hit a laser home run, his fourth of the season. It put the Padres up early as they went on to beat the Dodgers, 7-4.

For Hosmer, it was merely the continuation of his red-hot past couple weeks. Even with Friday's 0-fer, Hosmer is hitting .452 over his past 10 games (including Saturday's home run).
He smashed the first pitch he saw from Dodgers right-hander into the right-field bullpen. Perhaps it was the wakeup call the Padres' bats have been searching for.
"It's baseball," Hosmer said before the game. "Obviously no team wants to lose, especially being no-hit. But that's part of the grind. ... You have to flush out the lows. We still have a chance to win a series."
