Sogard, Brinson, Franklin banged up in loss

Special to MLB.com

ATLANTA -- The Brewers needed Eric Sogard's bat with two on and one out in the top of the eighth inning on Friday after cutting the Braves' lead to one. But after getting hit by a pitch in the elbow in the top of the seventh, Sogard was replaced with Jesus Aguilar, even though he had played the field in the bottom of the seventh.

"I tried swinging in the cage a little bit and it was pretty sore," Sogard said. Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Sogard will be evaluated on Saturday.

Aguilar wasn't able to cash in, and the Brewers' comeback fell just short, 5-4.

Lewis Brinson, who entered the game in a double switch, was hit by a pitch in the pinky in the eighth. It was the same finger he dislocated earlier this season in Triple-A.

"It's fine," Brinson said. "It just grazed me."

Brewers left fielder Nick Franklin also exited the game, bothered by left hamstring tightness.

"We got a little banged up tonight," Counsell said.
