MILWAUKEE -- Guardians left-hander took an important step toward returning to Cleveland's bullpen on Wednesday night.

Sabrowski began a rehab assignment with Double-A Akron, allowing two unearned runs on no hits and one walk while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning. The left-hander threw 20 pitches (14 strikes) and topped out at 94 mph.

The outing marked Sabrowski's first game action since landing on the 15-day injured list on May 26 with left elbow inflammation.

Before Wednesday's game against the Brewers, manager Stephen Vogt said the organization's primary focus remains seeing how Sabrowski comes through the appearance before determining next steps.

"Just be healthy, and then we'll reassess," Vogt said. "We really don't plan ahead anything, so we need to see how he comes out. We'll have to get the report."

Sabrowski has been one of Cleveland's most effective relievers when healthy this season. The 28-year-old owns a 1.71 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 21 innings across 25 appearances.

The Guardians received encouraging news shortly after placing Sabrowski on the injured list, as an MRI revealed inflammation but no structural damage in his elbow. Sabrowski previously dealt with a similar issue during Spring Training in 2025, and expressed optimism that this absence would be shorter.

A healthy Sabrowski would provide a significant boost to a Guardians bullpen that has been one of the club's strengths throughout the season. The left-hander has emerged as a key late-inning option for Vogt, pairing a mid-90s fastball with swing-and-miss stuff that has helped him become one of Cleveland's most trusted high-leverage relievers.
