Ernie Banks and Harry Caray statue restoration

October 26th, 2018

As part of the Chicago Cubs' efforts to preserve historic features of Wrigley Field, the Ernie Banks and Harry Caray statues will be removed and transported to Michigan for restoration work today.
The Ernie Banks statue located on Clark Street will be taken to the Alchemist Sculpture Foundry in Kalamazoo, Mich., to be refurbished then transported to Patten Monument Co. in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
The Harry Caray statue located on the corner of Waveland and Sheffield Avenues will also be transported to Patten Monument Co., where both statues will be fastened to new display pedestals.
After the statues of the Hall of Famers are restored, they will be brought back to Wrigley Field.
The Harry Caray statue will return to the Budweiser Bleacher entrance and the Ernie Banks statue will be placed in a temporary location until the plaza is complete in 2016.
Both Cubs tributes are expected to be on display at Wrigley Field by Opening Day 2015.
