Here is every deal that went down prior to the 2021 Trade Deadline.

July 30: Giants acquire 3B/OF Kris Bryant from Cubs for OF Alexander Canario and RHP Caleb Kilian
After watching the rival Dodgers pick up Max Scherzer and Trea Turner from the Nationals, the Giants made a blockbuster trade of their own for Bryant, a four-time All-Star and former MVP. Eligible for free agency after 2021, the 29-year-old could help the Giants in a number of areas after showing increased versatility with the Cubs this season. The Giants are currently missing both starting corner infielders, third baseman Evan Longoria and first baseman Brandon Belt.

To get Bryant, San Francisco sent its Nos. 9 (Canario) and 30 (Kilian) prospects, according to MLB Pipeline, to Chicago. More >

July 30: Mets acquire SS Javier Báez, RHP Trevor Williams and cash from Cubs for OF Pete Crow-Armstrong
After picking up Francisco Lindor in the offseason, the Mets are bringing in a fellow Gold Glove shortstop in Báez, Lindor's good friend and an impending free agent after 2021. Báez will likely fill in at shortstop until Lindor is ready to return from a strained oblique, then shift over to second base, where he has nearly 300 games of experience.

Williams will give New York some rotation depth while the club awaits the returns of Jacob deGrom and Noah Syndergaard from the injured list.

The deal costs the Mets Crow-Armstrong, the 19th overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft and their No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline. The 19-year-old outfielder is recovering from right shoulder surgery for a GLAD (glenoid labral articular disruption) lesion. More >

July 30: Blue Jays acquire RHP José Berríos from Twins for SS/OF Austin Martin and RHP Simeon Woods Richardson
The Blue Jays brought on a significant upgrade to their starting rotation Friday by trading for Berríos. The righty has posted a career-best 3.48 ERA through 121 2/3 innings and his 6.9 percent walk rate is the second-best of his career. Berríos, 27, has pitched at least six innings in nine of his past 10 starts and will try to stabilize a Toronto starting rotation that has thrown the fourth-fewest innings of any team in MLB. Berríos will enter his final year of arbitration in 2022.

But the price for Berríos was steep, as Martin and Woods Richardson are among the Top 100 prospects in the sport and the No. 2 and No. 4 prospects, respectively, in the Blue Jays' system, according to MLB Pipeline. Martin, the fifth overall pick in the 2020 Draft, was considered by some scouts as the best hitter in that year's class. He has an .807 OPS through 55 games at Double-A New Hampshire this season. Woods Richardson came over from the Mets in the Marcus Stroman trade in 2019. A second-round Draft pick in 2018 at just 17 years old, Woods Richardson has a 5.76 ERA through 11 starts this season at Double-A, but he has struck out 67 batters in 45 1/3 innings. More >

July 30: White Sox acquire RHP Craig Kimbrel from Cubs for 2B Nick Madrigal and RHP Codi Heuer
After acquiring Ryan Tepera from the Cubs earlier this week, the White Sox went back to their crosstown rivals for more bullpen help and came away with a much bigger piece in Kimbrel. The Sox now have arguably the best bullpen duo in the game in Kimbrel and Liam Hendriks, who signed with the club in the offseason, and Kimbrel’s $16 million club option means he could be back in 2022 as well.

Madrigal was the fourth overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft and a former top prospect, but he wasn’t going to contribute to the White Sox roster the rest of this season after suffering a torn hamstring in June. Heuer, 25, gives the Cubs a reliever with four years of control remaining after 2021. More >

July 30: Dodgers acquire RHP Max Scherzer and SS Trea Turner from Nationals for C Keibert Ruiz, RHP Josiah Gray, RHP Gerardo Carrillo and OF Donovan Casey
In one of the biggest blockbusters in recent memory, the Dodgers stunned the baseball world by striking a massive deal with the Nationals to land Scherzer, a three-time Cy Young Award winner, and Turner, an All-Star shortstop. The return to Washington is a large prospect haul featuring the Dodgers' No. 1 (Ruiz) and No. 2 (Gray) prospects, in addition to Carillo and Casey, a pair of mid-range prospects. More >

July 30: Phillies acquire RHP Kyle Gibson, RHP Ian Kennedy, RHP Hans Crouse and cash from Rangers for RHP Spencer Howard, RHP Kevin Gowdy and RHP Joss Gessner
The Phillies upgraded their rotation and bullpen in one move, acquiring a pair of veteran right-handers. Gibson has been one of the most talked-about starters leading up to the Deadline because of his hot start to the season (which netted his first All-Star selection) and a contract that runs through 2022 (when he has a reasonable salary of $7.67 million). Gibson, 33, posted a 2.00 ERA over his first 15 starts through the end of June, but his value might have taken a bit of a hit as he allowed 16 earned runs over 23 innings in July (6.26 ERA). Still, Gibson should help a Phillies rotation that has been a bit thin behind Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola.

Kennedy, a free agent after the season, has made nearly 300 starts over his 15-year career but transitioned to the bullpen a few years ago and has enjoyed a solid campaign as the Rangers’ closer. In 32 appearances, he has a 2.51 ERA and 16 saves.

The Phillies now have an arm to help their troublesome bullpen, although they also had to part with Howard, a second-round pick in 2017 who became a top-50 prospect in MLB. Howard had not established himself in the Majors yet, however, with a 5.81 ERA over 17 games (13 starts) in 2020-21. Philadelphia also gave up two other Minor League pitchers, although neither ranked among its Top 30 prospects. In addition to the two veterans, the Phillies got back Crouse, Texas' No. 9 prospect. July 30: A's acquire C Yan Gomes, 2B Josh Harrison and cash from Nationals for C Drew Millas, RHP Seth Shuman and RHP Richard Guasch
The A’s bolstered their depth, picking up a couple of seasoned veterans from Washington, a frequent Oakland trade partner. Gomes, a 34-year-old who is playing his 10th MLB season, can team up with Sean Murphy behind the plate. A World Series winner with the 2019 Nats, Gomes has batted .275/.322/.459 with 13 home runs in 93 games for Washington since the beginning of last season. Like Harrison, he will be a free agent at season’s end.

Harrison, also 34, revived his career with the Nats over the past two seasons, batting a combined .291/.363/.431 in 123 games. The longtime Pirate has spent the bulk of his time at second base this year but has also played third and all three outfield spots, making him at least a versatile bench piece.

Of the three players the Nats got back, Millas was the only one who ranked among the A's Top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline. More >

July 30: Yankees acquire LHP Andrew Heaney and cash from Angels for RHP Janson Junk and RHP Elvis Peguero
With Corey Kluber and Luis Severino still on the injured list, the Yankees surrendered a pair of Double-A pitchers to bring in Heaney, an eight-year veteran with a lifetime 4.57 ERA. The 30-year-old is eligible for free agency at the end of this season. Junk was the Yankees' No. 27 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. More >

July 30: Braves acquire OF Jorge Soler from Royals for RHP Kasey Kalich
In case there was any doubt that the Braves weren't waving the white flag in the NL East, take a look at their activity on Deadline Day. Atlanta completely overhauled its outfield in the wake of Ronald Acuña Jr.'s season-ending right knee surgery, acquiring Adam Duvall, Eddie Rosario and, right at the 4 p.m. ET Deadline, Soler, the 2019 AL home run leader. Soler got off to a dreadful start to this season, but he has picked things up of late, posting a .561 slugging and .867 OPS in July and homering six times in his last nine games. Kalich, the Braves' No. 21 prospect per MLB Pipeline, owns a 3.26 ERA across 20 relief appearances with Atlanta's High-A Rome affiliate and profiles as a future reliever. More >

July 30: Cardinals acquire LHP Jon Lester from Nationals for OF Lane Thomas
After acquiring J.A. Happ from the Twins earlier, the Cardinals wrapped up their Deadline by adding another veteran left-hander who can provide the club with innings down the stretch. The 37-year-old Lester, after six seasons with the Cubs, signed with Washington this year and has gone 3-5 with a 5.02 ERA over 16 starts, leaving him four victories shy of becoming the third active pitcher with 200 for his career, after Justin Verlander and Zack Greinke.

Thomas has shown some promise in the Minors, but the 25-year-old has not been able to grab a firm hold of a big league job over the past two seasons, batting a combined .107/.235/.179 in 98 plate appearances for St. Louis. He has experience at all three outfield spots. More >

July 30: Cardinals acquire J.A. Happ and cash from Twins for RHP John Gant and LHP Evan Sisk
In Happ, the Cardinals pick up a veteran starter on an expiring contract who can eat some innings while they await the returns of Jack Flaherty and Miles Mikolas from the injured list. Gant owns a 3.42 ERA this season, but with a 5.11 FIP behind it. The 28-year-old averaged fewer than five innings per start while pitching in St. Louis’ rotation earlier this year. Sisk has recorded a 3.31 ERA with 46 K's and 20 walks in 32 2/3 innings between High-A and Double-A this year. More >

July 30: Braves acquire RHP Richard Rodríguez from Pirates for RHP Bryse Wilson and RHP Ricky DeVito
The Braves’ busy Deadline continued with the acquisition of Rodríguez, who can step into the back of the Braves’ bullpen alongside the left-handed Will Smith, who has served as the team’s closer. Rodríguez has picked up 14 saves of his own in Pittsburgh, while putting up a 2.82 ERA, with 33 strikeouts and only five walks in 38 1/3 innings. The 31-year-old owns a 2.98 ERA over 196 appearances for the Pirates since 2018, despite working largely with a four-seam fastball (87% usage in 2021) that only averages around 93 mph. He also is not a rental, with club control that runs through the 2023 season. More >

July 30: Braves acquire OF Adam Duvall from Marlins for C Alex Jackson
In need of outfielders with Ronald Acuña Jr. out for the season due to a torn ACL, the Braves made a deal with Miami to bring Duvall back to Atlanta. Duvall produced 26 homers with an .852 OPS for the Braves across 98 games in 2019-20, and he’s slugged 22 more home runs for Miami in 2021. Duvall is the third outfielder the Braves have acquired since Acuña's injury joining Joc Pederson and Eddie Rosario on Atlanta's roster. The 32-year-old Duvall is on a one-year, $5 million deal with a 2022 mutual option.

Going back to the Marlins in the trade is Jackson, the No. 6 overall Draft pick in 2014 and a former top prospect. More >

July 30: Red Sox acquire RHP Hansel Robles from Twins for RHP Alex Scherff
Robles gives the Red Sox another bullpen arm with closing experience, although his seven-year career with the Mets, Angels and Twins has been an uneven one. Robles’ best season came with the Halos in 2019, when he posted a 2.48 ERA and saved 23 games, but he quickly lost the closer job there in 2020, finishing with 19 earned runs allowed in 16 2/3 innings. Robles bounced back somewhat this year in Minnesota, saving 10 games, although after a strong start (2.76 ERA through 33 games), he has surrendered 14 earned runs in 11 1/3 innings since June 22, raising his ERA to 4.91. July 30: Blue Jays acquire RHP Joakim Soria from D-backs for two players to be named later
After previously adding left-hander Brad Hand, the Blue Jays narrowly beat the Deadline to complement him with a veteran righty. This is the fifth time Soria has been traded in his career, including the fourth time in the week leading up to the Deadline, so he is used to being on the move. The 37-year-old, joining his ninth team in 14 seasons, brings 229 career saves to Toronto, including six this year. Soria has a 4.30 ERA in 2021, although he’s been scored upon in just one of his last 12 appearances since June 30. More >

July 30: Braves acquire OF Eddie Rosario and cash from Indians for 1B/3B Pablo Sandoval
Minutes before acquiring Adam Duvall from the Marlins, the Braves announced a deal for another outfielder, grabbing Rosario from Cleveland. The 29-year-old has been sidelined since early July with an abdominal strain. The Indians sent Atlanta cash in the trade to cover some of the salary remaining on Rosario's one-year, $8 million deal. Cleveland released Sandoval after the trade. More >

July 30: Padres acquire OF Jake Marisnick from Cubs for RHP Anderson Espinoza
The Padres added to their outfield depth with the acquisition of Marisnick, a veteran with a career .229/.282/.388 slash line and 61 homers in 766 games for the Marlins, Astros, Mets and Cubs. The 30-year-old is one a one-year, $1.5 million deal with a 2022 mutual option.

Espinoza, 23, was once a highly regarded prospect who ranked among MLB Pipeline’s overall Top 50, but he has been set back by injuries and hasn’t pitched above High-A. More >

July 30: Phillies acquire SS Freddy Galvis and cash from Orioles for RHP Tyler Burch
The Phillies are plenty familiar with Galvis, whom they signed as an amateur free agent way back in 2006. Galvis debuted with the club in 2012 and remained in Philly through 2017, before being traded to San Diego. The 31-year-old switch-hitter is a below-average hitter for his career -- including a .249/.306/.414 slash line in 2021 -- but his calling card is his defense. With 30 Outs Above Average at shortstop since 2016, per Statcast, Galvis ranks eighth in the Majors. He also has experience at second and third base and in the outfield. More >

July 30: Giants acquire LHP Tony Watson from Angels for RHP Jose Marte, RHP Ivan Armstrong and LHP Sam Selman
If it felt like Watson was already a Giant, that’s because he was with the team from 2018-20, before leaving as a free agent this past offseason. The 36-year-old lefty, an 11-year veteran, performed well in San Francisco before, with a 3.20 ERA in 153 appearances across those three seasons. He had a 4.64 ERA in 36 games for the Angels in 2021, although two disastrous outings (10 earned runs in one-third of an inning) account for much of the damage. Watson has held left-handed batters to a .600 OPS in his career, including .572 this year.

July 30: Brewers acquire RHP John Curtiss from Marlins for C Payton Henry
The Brewers add an effective right-handed reliever in Curtiss, a 28-year-old who won’t become a free agent until after the 2025 season. Between 2020 with the Rays and ‘21 with the Marlins, Curtiss has pitched 65 innings with a 2.22 ERA, with 65 strikeouts and only 12 walks. Henry was the Brewers’ No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline. The 24-year-old was Milwaukee’s sixth-round pick in 2016 and had batted .297/.372/.390 between Double-A and Triple-A this season while playing behind the plate.

July 30: Astros acquire RHP Phil Maton and C Yainer Diaz from Indians for OF Myles Straw
Cleveland and Houston swapped a pair of big leaguers, with the Astros looking to add a high-strikeout arm to their bullpen. Maton, a 28-year-old with two seasons of club control after 2021, has posted a 4.57 ERA over 63 innings since the start of 2020. However, he racked up 93 strikeouts in that time (13.3 K/9 rate), and his 37.9% whiff rate this year puts him in the 98th percentile.

Straw has been one of the fastest players in MLB, with strong defense in center field and 17 stolen bases in 22 tries this season. However, the right-handed batter has not produced at a high level offensively, with a career line of .256/.334/.324 (82 OPS+) with only three home runs in 594 plate appearances.

July 30: Rays acquire OF Jordan Luplow and RHP DJ Johnson from Indians for RHP Peyton Battenfield
Luplow has put up roughly average production overall this year in limited time with Cleveland, but he has flashed power against right-handers (.542 slugging, .863 OPS). The Indians just activated Luplow from the injured list Friday after trading Eddie Rosario to the Braves. Johnson has made just one big league appearance this year (July 7) after spending the 2020 season in Japan.

Battenfield was the Rays' No. 29 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The righty owns a career 1.94 ERA across 28 Minor League appearances.

July 30: Pirates acquire IF/OF Michael Chavis from Red Sox for LHP Austin Davis
A former Top 100 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, Chavis slugged 18 homers over 95 games as a rookie in 2019, but he’s fallen out of favor in Boston over the past two seasons, hitting .204/.242/.364 with seven homers in 73 games. The 25-year-old will get a fresh start with the Pirates. It was a one-for-one swap with Boston getting Davis, a 28-year-old lefty who has a lifetime 5.65 ERA over 65 appearances. More >

July 30: Brewers acquire LHP Daniel Norris from Tigers for RHP Reese Olson
Milwaukee picks up a situational arm in Norris, who has held left-handed hitters to a .555 OPS this season. Norris is an impending free agent. Olson, a former 13th-round selection in the 2018 Draft, was at High-A in the Brewers' farm system. More >

July 30: Phillies acquire LHP Braeden Ogle from Pirates for C Abrahán Gutiérrez
Ogle, a fourth-round Draft pick in 2016, has posted a 3.13 ERA with an 11.9 K/9 and a 6.5 BB/9 in Triple-A this season. The 24-year-old has yet to make his MLB debut. Gutierrez, a Low-A catcher, was initially part of the reported package Philadelphia was sending to Pittsburgh for left-hander Tyler Anderson on Tuesday before that deal fell through. More >

July 30: Rays acquire RHP Shawn Armstrong from Orioles for cash considerations
After trading Diego Castillo and placing Pete Fairbanks (right shoulder inflammation) on the IL on Thursday, Tampa Bay added some bullpen depth by picking up Armstrong from Baltimore on Friday. The 30-year-old right-hander, who has an 8.55 ERA in 20 innings this season, is expected to be sent to Triple-A Durham.

July 30: Padres acquire RHP Daniel Hudson from Nationals for RHP Mason Thompson and SS Jordy Barley
The Nationals capped a very busy day of moves with the trade of Hudson to San Diego for Thompson, the Padres' No. 9 prospect per MLB Pipeline, and Barley, a Low-A shortstop who hit .240/.333/.388 with eight home runs and 33 steals in 61 games for Lake Elsinore this season. Hudson bolsters the San Diego bullpen in preparation for the stretch run with a veteran right-hander who posted a 2.20 ERA and 38 percent strikeout rate over 31 appearances for Washington this season. July 29: Red Sox acquire OF Kyle Schwarber from Nationals for RHP Aldo Ramirez
Following the blockbuster deal in which their archrivals, the Yankees, landed slugging first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs, the Red Sox countered with a move to secure a slugger of their own in Schwarber, who went on an incredible run during which he launched 16 home runs in 18 games for Washington from June 12-29 before injuring his hamstring. Overall, Schwarber is hitting .253/.340/.570 with 25 homers in 72 games this season. Ramirez, who was Boston's No. 19 prospect per MLB Pipeline, posted a 2.03 ERA over eight starts for Class A Salem this season. More >

July 29: Yankees acquire 1B Anthony Rizzo from Cubs for RHP Alexander Vizcaíno and OF Kevin Alcántara
On the same day that the Yankees bolstered the left side of their lineup by officially acquiring Joey Gallo, they have gone one step further by acquiring the left-handed Rizzo. The Yankees' biggest rival, the Red Sox, were heavily linked to Rizzo as recently as Thursday, but the Yankees swooped in with a deal that sends their No. 9 and No. 12 prospects to the Cubs. Chicago is reportedly paying the remainder of Rizzo's 2021 salary, helping the Yankees stay under the competitive balance tax (CBT) threshold and leaving the Bronx Bombers the flexibility to possibly make more moves before Friday's 4 p.m. ET deadline. July 29: Dodgers acquire LHP Danny Duffy and cash considerations from Royals for a player to be named later
Duffy famously tweeted "bury me a Royal" back in 2017, but times have changed a little bit since then. Now 32, Duffy owned 10-and-5 rights by virtue of spending his entire career in Kansas City, which allowed him to veto any trade, but the California native waived those rights to join a reigning World Series champion club that has postseason hopes once again. The Dodgers made this trade knowing they won't see Duffy for a while; he isn't expected back until late August as he recovers from a left flexor strain. But with clear holes to fill in the starting rotation, Los Angeles pressed ahead with the bigger October picture in mind. More >

July 29: Mariners acquire RHP Diego Castillo from Rays for RHP J.T. Chargois and 3B Austin Shenton
Two days after trading closer Kendall Graveman to the Astros to get Abraham Toro, the Rays added their next potential closer in Castillo. The hard-throwing righty has picked up 14 of his 26 career saves with the Rays this season, posting a 2.72 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 36 1/3 innings. Chargois owns a 3.00 ERA across 31 relief appearances with Seattle this year, and just saw a streak of eight consecutive scoreless appearances snapped in his most recent outing. Shenton was the 17th-ranked prospect in Seattle's farm system. More >

July 29: White Sox acquire RHP Ryan Tepera from Cubs for LHP Bailey Horn
Tepera goes from one Chicago team to the other as the White Sox get some right-handed bullpen help for the stretch run and postseason. The veteran has posted a 2.91 ERA with 50 K’s in 43 1/3 innings this season.

To get Tepera, the White Sox part with Horn, a player they selected in the fifth round of the 2020 Draft out of Auburn. Horn, 23, has struggled since being promoted to High-A earlier this month, recording a 13.09 ERA with 11 walks in 11 innings spanning six games (four starts). He was the White Sox No. 23 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. More >

July 29: Yankees acquire OF Joey Gallo, LHP Joely Rodríguez and cash from Rangers for 2B Ezequiel Duran, SS Josh Smith, INF/OF Trevor Hauver and RHP Glenn Otto
The Yankees bolster their underperforming but still power-laden lineup with Gallo, who will be just the second lefty bat in the Yankees' full-strength lineup, joining Rougned Odor. Gallo leads his new team in home runs (25), RBIs (55) and runs scored (57), and is tops in all of baseball with 74 walks through July 28. Gallo's outfield defense, particularly his arm strength, has been just as impressive, as he's already racked up nine outfield assists. Rodríguez, who has 30 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings in 2021, will also be a welcome left-hander joining a righty-heavy pitching staff in New York.

The Rangers' massive return haul includes a number of the Yankees' Top 30 prospects as ranked by MLB Pipeline before the start of the Minor League season -- 23-year-old Smith (No. 14), 22-year-old Duran (No. 15), 22-year-old Hauver (No. 23) and 25-year-old Otto (No. 28) all ranked, with each of them, Hauver and Otto in particular, having seen their stock rise significantly in 2021. July 29: Blue Jays acquire LHP Brad Hand from Nationals for C Riley Adams
Hand has been shaky lately, blowing three saves, walking six batters and allowing seven earned runs in 4 2/3 innings from July 18-26, but he retired three of the four batters he faced (one reached on an error) to nail down a save against the Phillies in his most recent appearance on Tuesday. Hand, a three-time All-Star, joins a Blue Jays bullpen that has been crushed by injuries, with Kirby Yates, Julian Merryweather, David Phelps, A.J. Cole, Carl Edwards Jr., Tyler Chatwood and Anthony Castro all currently on the IL. The 31-year-old signed a one-year, $10.5 million deal with the Nats last offseason.

Adams, 25, made his MLB debut earlier this season and went 3-for-28 with 12 strikeouts before being sent back to Triple-A, where he has an .858 OPS in 35 games this year. MLB Pipeline ranked him 17th on the list of Toronto’s Top 30 prospects. More >

July 29: Rockies acquire RHP Ashton Goudeau from Reds for cash considerations
After acquiring Mychal Givens from the Rockies for two players on Wednesday, the Reds completed another deal with Colorado on Thursday that brought some cash back to Cincinnati. The Reds selected Goudeau, 29, off waivers from the Rockies earlier this season before designating him for assignment on Tuesday.

July 29: White Sox acquire 2B Cesar Hernandez from Indians for LHP Konnor Pilkington
Hernandez fills Chicago’s need for a second baseman after Nick Madrigal suffered a season-ending right hamstring tear in June. On a one-year, $5 million contract with a $6 million club option for 2022, the 31-year-old Hernandez has slugged a personal-best 18 homers this season, albeit with a career-low .231 batting average.

Pilkington, a 23-year-old southpaw who was selected in the third round of the 2018 MLB Draft, has posted a 3.48 ERA over 62 innings at Double-A this season. He wasn't ranked among Chicago's Top 30 prospects according to MLB Pipeline. More >

July 28: Brewers acquire INF Eduardo Escobar from D-backs for INF/OF Cooper Hummel and INF Alberto Ciprian
The D-backs' lone All-Star has at last found a landing spot. The switch-hitting Escobar, who has split his time between second and third base, is batting .246/.300/.478 with 22 home runs on the season. He is in the final year of a three-year, $21 million deal.

The Brewers sent a pair of Minor Leaguers to Arizona in return, the 26-year-old Hummel and 18-year-old Ciprian. Hummel, also a switch-hitter, has spent the 2021 season in Triple-A and is primarily an outfielder, but also sees action at first base and behind the plate. Ciprian was signed as a 16-year-old international free agent by the Brewers in July of 2019 and made his professional debut this month with the DSL Brewers, where he has slashed .378/.465/.514 with five doubles in 12 games. July 28: A's acquire OF Starling Marte from Marlins for LHP Jesús Luzardo
Oakland and Miami hooked up for a rare 1-for-1 trade that features intrigue on both sides. Marte was one of the most sought-after position players available on this year's trade market, entering Wednesday with a career-high .859 OPS, seven homers and 22 steals. He has also been a solid defender with 5 Outs Above Average recorded in center field, per Statcast. Marte will debut for the A's on Thursday in Anaheim, with Oakland hoping his bat can boost its middle-of-the-pack offense.

The Marlins covered the majority of the roughly $4.6 million left of Marte's salary this season, but they netted a high-upside arm in Luzardo, the A's top-ranked prospect as recently as last season. A product of nearby Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., Luzardo has struggled in both the Majors and in Triple-A, but possesses "huge stuff," in the words of Marlins manager Don Mattingly. July 28: Astros acquire RHP Yimi García from Marlins for RHP Austin Pruitt and OF Bryan De La Cruz
The Astros are set to make their second trade for a reliever in as many days, grabbing García from Miami after landing Kendall Graveman from the Mariners on Tuesday. The 30-year-old García has 15 saves and a 3.47 ERA in 39 relief appearances this season. Pruitt was designated for assignment to make room for trade acquisition Rafael Montero, and now he is heading to Miami. De La Cruz, a 24-year-old Minor League outfielder, is batting .324 with 12 home runs and an .880 OPS in 66 games at Triple-A this season. More >

July 28: Reds acquire RHP Mychal Givens from Rockies for RHP Case Williams and RHP Noah Davis
The Reds continued to fortify their bullpen by adding Givens on Wednesday, a day after they traded for Justin Wilson and Luis Cessa from the Yankees. The 31-year-old right-hander has a 2.73 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings this season. The Rockies landed a pair of starting pitching prospects -- 19-year-old right-hander Case Williams, who was ranked the Reds' No. 20 prospect, and 24-year-old right-hander Noah Davis, who was ranked their No. 26 prospect. July 28: Mariners acquire LHP Tyler Anderson from Pirates for C Carter Bins and RHP Joaquin Tejada
A chaotic handful of hours for Anderson ended with him being dealt to the Mariners for a couple of prospects early Wednesday morning.

The Phillies reportedly had a deal in place to acquire Anderson for two prospects on Tuesday afternoon, but it fell through due to a medical issue related to one of those players. Anderson, who was scratched from his scheduled Tuesday start in anticipation of a trade, instead goes to a playoff contender that ranks 23rd in rotation ERA at 4.80. The lefty Anderson has a 4.35 ERA for the season, but he's pitched to a 2.50 ERA in three starts this month. That includes stellar outings against a couple of first-place teams, the Brewers and the Mets. Anderson has also thrown at least five innings in each of his 18 starts.

Bins, 22, has recorded a .298/.398/.395 slash line across his first 100 games in the Minors, split between Low-A and Double-A. Tejada, 18, made his first two appearances in pro ball earlier this month in the Dominican Summer League. He's allowed four earned runs in five innings with eight strikeouts. More >

July 28: Reds acquire RHP Luis Cessa and LHP Justin Wilson from Yankees for a player to be named later
The Reds added a couple of arms to their beleaguered bullpen early Wednesday morning. Cessa is in the midst of his best season in the Majors as he carries a 2.82 ERA through 38 1/3 innings. He has allowed only two earned runs in his past 11 1/3 innings, dating back to June 15. Wilson has struggled this season, posting a 6.76 FIP through 21 appearances, but he did throw a couple of clean innings over the previous week. The Reds' bullpen has a 5.36 ERA, the worst in the Majors.

The trade saves the Yankees some money as Wilson is owed about $1 million this season and has a $2.3 million player option for 2022. Cessa is owed about $400,000 for the rest of the season and has two years of arbitration remaining. More >

July 27: Astros acquire RHPs Kendall Graveman and Rafael Montero from Mariners for 3B Abraham Toro and RHP Joe Smith
Division rivals pulled off a trade prior to their game against one another Tuesday night. The Astros beefed up their bullpen by acquiring Graveman, who owns a 0.82 ERA and 10 saves this season. The Astros rank 15th in the Majors with a 4.15 bullpen ERA. Montero, who was designated for assignment on Friday, opened the year as Seattle's closer before losing the gig to Graveman. Montero had posted an 11.00 ERA since June 6.

In return, the Mariners brought in the 24-year-old Toro, who homered in Seattle on Monday. Toro has hit just .193 with a .626 OPS across 274 at-bats in the Majors, but he was ranked by MLB Pipeline as Houston's No. 3 prospect in 2020 and has a 1.097 OPS at the Triple-A level. Smith, 37, has a 7.48 ERA through 27 appearances this season. More >

July 26: A's acquire LHP Andrew Chafin from Cubs for OF Greg Deichmann and RHP Daniel Palencia
Chafin gives the A's a second reliable lefty to pitch high-leverage innings out of the back of their bullpen along with Jake Diekman. The 31-year-old has a 2.06 ERA in 43 relief appearances for the Cubs this season, with 37 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings.

The Cubs get back one of Oakland's top 10 prospects in Deichmann (No. 9 per MLB Pipeline), who's been having a good season at Triple-A this year. The 26-year-old is hitting .300 with a .432 on-base percentage, four home runs and seven steals in 59 games. Palencia is a 21-year-old right-hander in his first professional season after the A's signed him out of Venezuela in February 2020. More >

July 26: Yankees acquire RHP Clay Holmes from Pirates for INF Diego Castillo and INF Hoy Park
This move adds more depth to the Yankees' bullpen, with the 28-year-old Holmes bringing a 4.93 ERA in 42 relief innings this season with him to New York. Holmes has struck out 44 batters but his calling card is a sinker that he throws more than half the time, helping him post a 72.4% ground-ball rate in 2021.

Neither Castillo nor Park ranks among MLB Pipeline's top 30 Yankees prospects, although Park -- who made his MLB debut on July 16 -- has batted .327/.475/.567 in 48 games this season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after a promotion from Double-A. More >

July 26: Padres acquire 2B/OF Adam Frazier and cash from Pirates for SS Tucupita Marcano, OF Jack Suwinski and RHP Michell Miliano
The Padres are adding MLB's hits leader, acquiring Frazier from the Pirates for three players, including one of San Diego's top 10 prospects. Besides Frazier's 125 hits, he also ranks fourth in the Majors with a .324 average and tied for fourth with 28 doubles. Frazier is making $4.3 million this season and has another year of arbitration remaining in 2022. According to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman, the Padres will also receive about $1.4 million.

Marcano is listed as the Padres' No. 5 prospect on MLB Pipeline. The 21-year-old shortstop has an .811 OPS at Triple-A El Paso. He's gone 8-for-44 in 25 games at the big league level this season. Suwinski, 22, has clubbed 15 homers at Double-A San Antonio and carries a .949 OPS. Miliano, 21, has racked up 59 strikeouts in 30 innings this year, but he has a 6.23 ERA across seven appearances following his promotion to High-A Fort Wayne earlier this month. More >

Toronto designated Zeuch, a former first-round Draft pick, for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster when it activated catcher Alejandro Kirk from the 60-day IL on July 20.

July 24: Mets acquire OF Mark Payton from Reds for cash considerations
Cincinnati designated Payton, a 29-year-old outfielder, for assignment on July 19 to clear room on the 40-man roster.

July 23: Mets acquire LHP Rich Hill from Rays for RHP Tommy Hunter and C Matt Dyer
The Mets have addressed a clear area of need by acquiring Hill from the Rays. Hill, 41, has a 3.87 ERA across 19 starts for the Rays this season. The lefty has struggled of late, posting a 5.40 ERA and lasting more than five innings just once over his previous seven starts, but with the Mets currently missing Jacob deGrom, Carlos Carrasco, Noah Syndergaard and David Peterson due to injury, a move to bolster the rotation was seen as a top priority. Hill will be a free agent after this season.

Hunter, 35, hasn't allowed a run through eight innings this season, but a back injury has kept him sidelined since May. He hopes to return later this season. Dyer, a 23-year-old catching prospect, is hitting just .194 through 124 at-bats at Low-A St. Lucie, but seven of his 24 hits are home runs. More >

July 22: Rays acquire DH Nelson Cruz and RHP Calvin Faucher from Twins for RHP Joe Ryan and RHP Drew Strotman
The Rays made a big upgrade to their lineup as they seek to defend their AL East title by adding Cruz, a veteran slugger who continues to defy time by putting up huge numbers in his age-40 season -- entering play Thursday, Cruz was hitting .294/.370/.537 with 19 homers in 2021. Faucher, 25, posted a 4.64 ERA over four Minor League seasons in the Twins organization, though he struggled at Double-A Wichita this season, with a 7.04 ERA in 19 relief appearances.

In exchange, Minnesota picks up Tampa Bay's No. 10 and No. 17 prospects, per MLB Pipeline. Ryan, 25, made the jump from A-ball in 2019 to Triple-A this year, and owns a 3.63 ERA in 12 appearances (11 starts) at the Triple-A level so far. Strotman, 24, had similar success with Triple-A Durham this season, posting a 3.39 ERA in 13 appearances (12 starts). More >

This is the second time McKinney has been traded this season and the fifth time in his career. The Halos designated Peters for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster after signing outfielder Adam Eaton. The 28-year-old southpaw owns a career 5.83 ERA over parts of four seasons in the Majors.

July 16: Braves acquire C Stephen Vogt from D-backs for 1B Mason Berne
The catching position has been a carousel for the Braves this season. Vogt, who is earning $3.5 million in the second year of a two-year deal, became the seventh player to start a game behind the plate for the team after it acquired him from the D-backs for Berne, a Low-A first baseman. Less than a week after losing superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. to a torn right ACL, the Braves shored up their outfield situation by picking up Pederson from the Cubs for Ball, a High-A first baseman. The Braves are on the hook for the prorated portion of Pederson's $4.5 million base salary in 2021. His deal also includes a $10 million mutual option with a $2.5 million buyout for 2022. More >
