No glove needed: Fan makes barehanded catch on Schwarbomb No. 33

July 18th, 2026

Before Monday’s T-Mobile Home Run Derby at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, fans in the outfield were given oversized gloves to catch incoming dingers.

But on Saturday, one fan in Philly didn’t need a glove to make a highlight-reel grab of Kyle Schwarber’s latest long ball.

Schwarber’s MLB-leading 33rd homer traveled into the second deck, where one fan found himself in the right place at the right time. With a beverage in his right hand, the fan reached up with his left hand and plucked Schwarber’s homer right out of the air.

The two-run shot traveled a projected 399 feet. The lucky Phils fan probably didn’t expect to get his hands on a home run ball all the way up there in right field. But sometimes, the ball just finds you.
