South Siders went into celebration mode Thursday when the White Sox announced that they had signed free-agent catcher Yasmani Grandal. But did the signing rank as a surprise? Well, not for at least one Sox fan.
After Thursday’s announcement, Twitter user Greg Hoffman (@ghoff12) shared a video of an interaction he had with Grandal at Wrigley Field over the summer. Hoffman tells the then-Brewers backstop that he would be going to the White Sox ballpark in 2020, based on rumors at the time.
“They’re going to pay you a lot of money next year,” Hoffman told Grandal.
