Fantasy411 chat: Pollock over ailing Hamilton?
MLB.com fantasy expert Fred Zinkie fielded questions from fans during a live Twitter chat (at @fantasy411) on Monday. Read through the best of the Q&A below. Questions and answers have been edited for clarity.
@ron_odo: With Billy Hamilton out with a strained oblique, is A.J. Pollock a better option?
Fred Zinkie: Yes, you should own Pollock over Hamilton.
@MarkStormbro: Please pick one for the rest of the season: Joe Musgrove, Tyler Anderson, Chad Kuhl and Collin McHugh.
Zinkie: I'll take Kuhl. He has been consistent of late.
@MikeAronofsky: Please rank Trea Turner, Aledmys Díaz, Alex Bregman and Yoán Moncada.
Zinkie: Turner, Bregman, Moncada, Diaz.
@Mike_Santulli: Who has a bigger fantasy impact, a star position player or a star pitcher?
Zinkie: Typically, a star position player has the biggest impact.
@LyndonBryanton: Who should I drop out of Danny Duffy, Tanner Roark or Michael Fulmer?
Zinkie: Drop Fulmer. His strikeout rate isn't great. Roark has a favorable September schedule.
@nmach10: Duffy has struggled recently. Should I drop him for Jameson Taillon or Kevin Gausman?
Zinkie: I would stick with Duffy for at least one more start.
@real_wes_trunk: My playoffs start today. Should I bench Lorenzo Cain for Yasiel Puig?
Zinkie: Even though Cain hasn't been great lately, you should start him over Puig this week.
@DTBMpls: Is Jharel Cotton a streaming option on Wednesday against Oakland?
Zinkie: Yes, he can be streamed in deep-mixed leagues.
@cecilrippy: Would you rather use Byron Buxton or Ryan Braun during September?
Zinkie: I'll take Braun. A few good games from Buxton doesn't surpass an effective season from Braun.
@antaftwit: Please rank Bartolo Colon, Brandon Finnegan, Trevor Bauer, Gausman, Anthony DeSclafani and John Lackey.
Zinkie: Lackey, Gausman, Colon, DeSclafani, Finnegan, Bauer.
@alfredo_gc: Is Jacob deGrom going to pitch again this season?
Zinkie: I expect that he will make more starts in 2016.
@albertmatos: Please pick two closers out of Ken Giles, Wade Davis, Tony Watson and Cody Allen.
Zinkie: Giles and Watson. Injury concerns (Davis) and role uncertainty (Allen) impact the other two options.
@willyedwards11: Should I cut Willson Contreras for Yadier Molina or Sandy Leon? It seems like Contreras' playing time is getting more inconsistent.
Zinkie: It is definitely inconsistent. If you need volume, you could go with Molina.
@Shadow2actual: Would you rather own Luke Weaver or Alex Cobb for the rest of the season?
Zinkie: Weaver. He has looked good in recent starts.
@Matt2628: Which two players should I sit for the rest of the season out of Stephen Piscotty, Cain, Khris Davis, Adam Duvall and Matt Kemp?
Zinkie: Sit Duvall and Kemp.
@RayProta: Should I drop Troy Tulowitzki for Bregman?
Zinkie: You can make that switch. Tulowitzki hasn't hit for power in recent weeks.
@TheNLDude: Who should I start this week out of Javier Báez, José Peraza and Orlando Arcia?
Zinkie: Use Peraza this week. With Hamilton out, Peraza may be very productive this week.
@LivingProper: Please pick two for the rest of the season out of José Abreu, Albert Pujols, Adrián González and DJ LeMahieu.
Zinkie: LeMahieu, Pujols.
@Six4Tre: Should I drop Duvall or Michael Saunders for Brad Miller?
Zinkie: Yes, you can drop either one for Miller.
@ry200455665: Would you rather own Cobb or Seth Lugo?
Zinkie: Lugo. You can take your chances that he stays in the rotation.
@MPAllen95: Is Vince Velasquez officially finished or is there a chance he continues to pitch this season?
Zinkie: It seems that he is done for 2016.
@champiowill: Which Cardinals starter would you rather own, Weaver or Adam Wainwright?
Zinkie: Surprisingly, I'll take Weaver.
@ClevelandClone5: Is it time to drop Steven Wright for Clay Buchholz or Weaver?
Zinkie: You can drop Wright for Weaver.
