Detroit Tigers draftee Alex Faedo turned in a dominant performance Sunday in a first-round game of the College World Series in Omaha, striking out 11 to lead Florida over TCU, 3-0. 
Faedo, the No. 18 overall selection in the MLB Draft, held the Horned Frogs to just two singles, while giving up two walks in seven innings. The right-hander escaped a bases-loaded jam in the third inning, striking out Zach Humphreys and Evan Skoug to end the threat.
Faedo combined with reliever Michael Byrne to hold the Horned Frogs to five hits.
Gators shortstop Dalton Guthrie, a Phillies sixth-round selection, went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk, and Rays 38th-rounder JJ Schwarz plated the game's first run when he brought in Ryan Larson on an RBI groundout in the first inning. Larson walked to lead off the inning.

Game 1: No 7 Louisville 8, Texas A&M 4
Day 2 opened with Louisville riding a five-run, second-inning outburst for its first CWS victory since 2007. Cardinals catcher Colby Fitch, a 13th-round Draft pick by the Phillies, drove in four runs with a single, double and bases-loaded walk.
The Aggies rallied against Louisville starter and Rays draftee Brendan McKay to cut the deficit to one run in the sixth, but the Cardinals bullpen took over and shut the door. Relievers Lincoln Henzman, a White Sox fourth-round Draft pick, and Sam Bordner combined to toss four scoreless innings as Louisville tagged on three more runs.
As the No. 4 overall pick, McKay is the highest Draft selection competing in the CWS. The left-hander picked up the win in five innings, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out six.

Louisville and Florida advance to the winners' bracket where they'll face each other at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday. Texas A&M and TCU will play at 2 p.m. ET in an elimination game.
