Wow! FSU slugger stuns with big blast

March 1st, 2021

Aaron Judge … Giancarlo Stanton … Elijah Cabell?

Add the Florida State slugger to your list of monster home run hitters. Cabell crushed a towering blast to dead center field for the Seminoles against the Pittsburgh Panthers at Dick Howser Stadium on Sunday -- and check out these numbers, per the school.

Exit velocity: 114 mph off the bat. Distance: 489 feet.

That's the type of home run you rarely see at any level. In Major League Baseball, since Statcast tracking was introduced in 2015, there have only been seven homers hit both that hard and that far. Those seven were hit by Judge (two), Joey Gallo (two), Stanton, Franchy Cordero and Miguel Sanó.

Cabell could be mashing home runs in the big leagues soon enough. The 21-year-old junior is a Draft prospect this year, and experts rate him as having among the best raw power of any collegiate hitter.

Cabell was also drafted out of high school in 2018 by the Brewers, picked in the 14th round, 425th overall.
