Garrett Crochet’s throwing program won’t begin quite yet, according to Red Sox manager Chad Tracy.
Before Boston’s game in Colorado on Monday, Tracy told reporters that Crochet had a scheduled reevaluation of his injured shoulder. The left-hander has been on the injured list since April 29 with left shoulder inflammation/left lat tightness.
Crochet had recently begun throwing plyo balls with the hope that he’d be able to begin a throwing program soon. Tracy said that while Crochet is improving, the left-hander is not quite ready to make that next step.
It’s been a tough second year in Boston for Crochet, who had a 6.30 ERA in six starts before landing on the injured list. In Crochet’s first season in Boston in 2025, the lefty finished second in AL Cy Young Award voting thanks to a 2.59 ERA and MLB-leading 255 strikeouts in 205 1/3 innings.
