Dodgers right-hander Gavin Stone, who has not pitched in a Major League game since Aug. 31, 2024, made his fourth Minor League rehab appearance on Wednesday night as he recovers from right shoulder inflammation.
In a start for Triple-A Oklahoma City in Game 1 of a doubleheader against El Paso, Stone yielded just one baserunner (on a first-inning single) over four innings and 58 pitches (41 strikes), striking out five. The 27-year-old has posted a 1.54 ERA (two runs over 11 2/3 innings) over four rehab outings with Oklahoma City.
Stone has been particularly good over his past two rehab starts, giving up one hit, walking none and striking out 10 across seven innings.
Prior to the shoulder inflammation that put his 2026 season on hold, Stone missed the entire ’25 campaign recovering from surgery on the same shoulder. He was in the midst of a breakout performance before he underwent the procedure in ’24. Over 25 starts that season, he pitched to a 3.53 ERA across 140 1/3 innings for Los Angeles.
Since he hadn’t pitched for an extended period of time prior to beginning his current rehab assignment on Aug. 6, Stone will likely use the maximum allotted time of 30 days. If all goes well, he could be activated off the injured list in September, though he’ll likely be deployed out of the bullpen rather than in the starting rotation.
Another former prospect, Bobby Miller, pitched in the nightcap for the Comets. He struck out five over three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. It was Miller's fifth appearance this month for OKC. Overall, he is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA. Miller has struck out 16 in 12 innings.
