GCL Tigers' Castro, Martinez combine for no-no

Duo combined for nine strikeouts over seven hitless innings

The Gulf Coast League Tigers West, a Rookie-level affiliate of the Tigers, completed a seven-inning combined no-hitter in a 4-0 victory over the GCL Yankees West on Monday night in Tampa.
Right-handed starter Anthony Castro went five innings, walking one and striking out six. He was relieved in the sixth by right-hander Malvin Martinez, who completed the final two frames, walking one and fanning three. For the season, Castro is 3-3 with a 4.87 ERA in nine games (eight starts). Martinez has yet to allow a run in 7 2/3 innings pitched since joining the rookie-league Tigers.

Catcher Andres Sthormes was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the sixth inning, and shortstop Chad Sedio also went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
