Outfielder, 12th at position, needs help on ballot, as does Ozuna, Prado, Yelich

June 1st, 2016

The first National League All-Star balloting update was released on Wednesday, with just one Marlins player appearing among the top vote-getters.
Giancarlo Stanton is 12th among NL outfielders with 208,067 votes. Washington's Bryce Harper leads the voting for outfielders with 838,599. Outside of that, no Marlins position player ranks among the top five vote-getters in his respective position.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly said he doesn't like to get into discussions involving the individual. He's more focused on the team aspect of the game. He shrugged off the absence of Marlins such as Marcell Ozuna (.330), Martin Prado (.321) and Christian Yelich (.317).
"A lot of times it's who promotes their guys," Mattingly said. "Some teams do that really well; some teams don't. Our attendance is not as good as a lot of places, so that doesn't help our guys either."
Furthermore, Mattingly said he doesn't believe that All-Star voting reflects the abilities of the team.
"That's just more of a voting on people who they know," he said. "Our guys will get known over time if we play well. People will know who they are."
People definitely know Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo. He paces the NL in fan balloting for the 2016 Major League Baseball All-Star Game presented by MasterCard, it was announced earlier Wednesday on MLB Network.
