NEW YORK -- The comparisons between Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge keep coming, more and more by the day, and perhaps they're apt.
Judge doesn't yet have Stanton's pedigree, his contract or his reputation. But he is probably the only comparable player to Stanton in baseball history in terms of strength and body type. And he's the only player in the Statcast™ Era to hit a harder homer than the reigning Home Run Derby champion.

So as Judge spent the season's first month shooting to stardom in New York, the questions kept coming at Stanton more persistently. Stanton says he has been asked about Judge every day, a trend that didn't stop on Friday in New York prior to the opening of a three-game set at Citi Field with the Mets.
"No questions on our team? Nothing about anything that matters?" Stanton retorted when asked a question about Judge. "Have any questions about our teammates? I feel like I'm talking about him more than them lately."

Stanton might be tired of being compared to a rookie he has never met who plays in a different league, but he's not blind to the fact that him and Judge share a sort of kinship.
Both are unique for their size and the sheer veracity with which they hit the ball. Judge is listed at 6-foot-7, 282 pounds, Stanton at 6-foot-6, 245 pounds. They are the only players with multiple home runs with exit velocities of more than 118 mph.
Both had to overcome strikeout issues early in their careers. And because of their size, both inspire gawkers, which inevitably leads to some whispered skepticism, though neither Stanton nor Judge has ever been linked to performance-enhancing drugs. Stanton acknowledges this and considers it unfair.
"Guys like us, me and him, shouldn't even have to come up with the doubt," Stanton said, "even though it makes sense because of what happened previously. But he's had that power his whole life. I've had that power my whole life."
Added Marlins manager Don Mattingly: "I think those comparisons with Giancarlo are fair. They even kind of look a little bit similar. They are two guys who hit the ball extremely far, extremely hard."
