JUPITER, Fla. -- Giancarlo Stanton arrived early to Marlins camp on Tuesday, and he took part in a series of drills to test his sore right knee. The three-time All-Star right fielder did some light running, hit in the cages and threw.
However, Stanton wasn't in the lineup for the Marlins' 1-0 win over the Yankees at Roger Dean Stadium, and he remains listed as day to day.
"I did everything today," Stanton said. "We'll see how, the next couple of days, we react to it."
The general feeling is Stanton will be fine, but the team is being extra cautious with its most feared hitter.

Stanton experienced discomfort in his knee after playing in a Grapefruit League game on Saturday. He informed the club on Sunday, and he didn't make a scheduled trip on Monday to Viera, Fla., where he was initially scheduled to play against the Nationals. Stanton added he didn't aggravate the knee on any specific play Saturday.
"He got here early today," president of baseball operations Michael Hill said Tuesday. "He ran. He threw. He hit. We'll see how the knee responds today. We'll take it day by day with him."
Stanton had surgery on the same knee in 2012, but he hasn't had any issues with it in recent years.
Stanton is getting back into game shape after appearing in 74 games in 2015. His season was cut short due to a broken left hamate bone.
"I know he went out and threw, and did some hitting," manager Don Mattingly said. "We'll see how that goes and how we react off of that. Kind of day to day at this point."
