In anticipation of MLB Opening Day, the San Francisco Giants, Oakland A's and Major League Baseball are hosting a “Road to Opening Day” event at Embarcadero Plaza on Wednesday.
The event, which is part of a league-wide campaign to celebrate Opening Day and all of the various ways fans can enjoy baseball, will award fans with free collectibles, ballpark-themed snacks, a chance to rub elbows with baseball greats and team mascots, and other surprises.
The "Road to Opening Day" event is scheduled to take place from noon to 3 p.m. PT on Wednesday. It will be held at Embarcadero Plaza, Market Street & The Embarcadero, in San Francisco. If inclement weather is in the forecast, a decision to either move forward or postpone the event will come two hours before the scheduled start time.
The Giants will begin their 2022 regular season Friday at home against the Marlins, with first pitch slated for 1:35 p.m. PT. The A's will open the season at noon PT on Friday against the Phillies in Philadelphia. Oakland will celebrate its home opener at 6:40 p.m. on April 18 against the Orioles.
