What to know about the Giants-Phillies game
Though he's given up 47 hits in 45 innings this season, takes a 3.60 ERA in eight starts into today's game in Philadelphia. Over his past two outings -- against the Dodgers in San Francisco and the Braves in Atlanta -- the 27-year-old left-hander has only given up three earned runs in 13 2/3 innings (1.98 ERA). Blach made two starts against Philadelphia last season, with very different results. The first was at Citizens Bank Park on June 2, when he tossed a seven-hit shutout with no walks and four strikeouts, and on Aug. 19 in San Francisco, he was hit hard for six runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings.

Right-hander Vince Velasquez is scheduled to take the ball for the Phillies. Velasquez has been struggling, recording a 5.14 ERA over seven starts. Though he only gave up one run in his last start Saturday against the Nationals in Washington, Velasquez hasn't made it into the sixth inning in any of his past three outings. He has a 7.24 ERA over that span.
