LOS ANGELES -- Giants outfield prospect Heliot Ramos is one step closer to reaching the Majors.

Ramos’ agency, Munger English Sports Management, announced Tuesday that the 21-year-old from Puerto Rico has been promoted from Double-A Richmond to Triple-A Sacramento.

Ramos, a 2017 first-round Draft pick who is now ranked the Giants’ No. 3 prospect by MLB Pipeline, put on a show during big league camp this spring, but he endured a challenging season at Double-A Richmond, where he hit .237 with a .756 OPS and 10 home runs over 62 games.

Ramos enjoyed a hot start to the Minor League season, but his production dipped in June, when he hit only .155 with a .529 OPS and 32 strikeouts over 26 games. Still, Ramos rebounded with a strong start to July -- he’s crushed five homers and posted a .950 OPS over 14 games this month -- and earned his third trip to the Futures Game, where he represented the Giants along with fellow top prospect Marco Luciano in Denver last week.

“I’ve watched a ton of video on Ramos,” manager Gabe Kapler said Tuesday. “It has been a very up-and-down season for him. The start he got off to was phenomenal. Since then, he cooled off a little bit, but he’s been swinging the bat better of late. I think he’s at his best when he’s controlling the strike zone and he’s driving the ball to the opposite field.”

Now that he’s at Triple-A Sacramento, Ramos could have a realistic shot at debuting for the Giants before the end of the 2021 season. He made it clear during Spring Training that his goal was to reach the big leagues as quickly as possible.

"I’m ready,” Ramos said in March. “I can’t wait. I feel like I’m going to do everything I can to get there, and I feel like I deserve it. I feel like I can play in the big leagues."

Worth noting

The Giants have agreed to terms with 2021 14th-round Draft pick Tyler Myrick, whose deal is worth $125,000, according to MLB Pipeline’s Jim Callis.

Myrick, a right-handed pitcher out of Florida International, went 7-4 with a 5.43 ERA in 14 starts this year, racking up 67 strikeouts over 71 1/3 innings. The deadline to sign 2021 draftees is Aug. 1.
