The San Francisco Giants selected Vanderbilt University centerfielder Bryan Reynolds with the 59th overall selection in the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the club announced today.
 
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound junior hit .330 (74-for-224) with 32 extra base hits and 57 RBI in 62 games this season for Vanderbilt. The Second-Team All-SEC team player finished second in the conference in home runs (13) and walks (49), third in runs scored (59), total bases (135) and slugging pct. (.603) and fifth in on-base pct. (.461).
 
The Brentwood, Tennesse native was impressive during the 2015 summer in the Cape Cod League, as he hit .346 (28-for-81) with 17 runs scored and a .459 on-base pct. with the Orleans Firebirds.
 
During his sophomore season Reynolds topped the Southeastern Conference in OPS (1.077), while also being named to the 2015 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll.   
 
During his Freshman year he led Vanderbilt's 2014 national championship team in hitting (.338) and slugging (.480). The centerfielder was named to the 2014 All-SEC Freshman Team that season and was also named to the First Team Freshman All-American Team by Baseball America.
 
Reynolds is the Giants' second top pick of the draft out of Vanderbilt, as they also selected his former teammate RHP Tyler Beede with the 14th overall pick in 2014.
