Giants Spring Training FAQ: Key dates, matchups and more

The countdown to Spring Training is nearly over for the Giants.

Here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know to get ready for the start of the 2026 season:

When are the first workouts for players?
The Giants will hold their first workout for pitchers and catchers on Tuesday, followed by their first full-squad workout on Feb. 15.

Pitchers and catchers who are participating in the World Baseball Classic have a voluntary report date on Monday. Their position player counterparts are required to report by Feb. 12. The Giants’ list of Classic participants currently includes right-hander Logan Webb (USA) and outfielders Heliot Ramos (Puerto Rico) and Jung Hoo Lee (Korea).

Where is the Giants’ facility?
The Giants train at Scottsdale Stadium, which is located at 7408 East Osborn Road in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Can fans attend workouts?
Workouts at Scottsdale Stadium are generally open to the public when the Giants aren’t scheduled to play a home game. Entry is through Home Plate Plaza on the corner of Osborn Road and Drinkwater Blvd.

Who are some new faces fans should know?
San Francisco signed six players to Major League deals this offseason: right-hander Adrian Houser (two years, $22 million), center fielder Harrison Bader (two years, $20.5 million), second baseman Luis Arraez (one year, $12 million), right-hander Tyler Mahle (one year, $10 million) and relievers Jason Foley (one year, $2 million) and Sam Hentges (one year, $1.4 million). The Giants also traded for Rule 5 Draft pick Daniel Susac, who is the front-runner to serve as catcher Patrick Bailey’s backup this year.

Who are some of the top prospects invited to Major League camp?
First baseman Bryce Eldridge, who is ranked the Giants’ No. 1 prospect by MLB Pipeline, will be back in camp after making his Major League debut in September. Fellow top prospects Bo Davidson (No. 5), Trent Harris (No. 17), Parks Harber (No. 22) and 2021 first-round Draft pick Will Bednar will also be among the Giants’ non-roster invitees this spring.

When is the team’s first Cactus League game?
The Giants will kick off Cactus League action against the Mariners at Peoria Sports Complex on Feb. 21. They’ll face the Cubs in their home opener at Scottsdale Stadium on Feb. 22.

What are a few other notable spring games?
Before heading off to the World Baseball Classic, Team USA will visit Scottsdale Stadium to play a tune-up game against the Giants on March 3. It’ll technically be Webb’s first time opposing the Giants, though he’s said he doesn’t expect to pitch that day.

San Francisco’s Spring Training slate also includes a pair of clashes with the back-to-back World Series champion Dodgers on Feb. 27 at home and March 18 on the road.

What is Spring Breakout, and when is the game?
Spring Breakout is a league-wide event meant to showcase baseball’s future and the current stars of Minor League Baseball. The Giants’ 2026 Spring Breakout game will come against the Reds at Goodyear Ballpark on March 19, which could give fans an early glimpse at young prospects such as Josuar Gonzalez (No. 2), Gavin Kilen (No. 3) and Jhonny Level (No. 4).

When is the club’s last game in Arizona?
The Giants will host the Guardians in their Cactus League finale at Scottsdale Stadium on March 21.

Will there be any additional exhibitions before the regular season?
After wrapping up action in the desert, the Giants will return to Northern California to play an exhibition game against the Sacramento River Cats -- their Triple-A affiliate -- at Sutter Health Park on March 22. They’ll cap their exhibition schedule with a two-game series against the Sultanes de Monterrey of the Mexican League at Oracle Park from March 23-24.

When is Opening Day?
The Giants will face the Yankees on Opening Night at Oracle Park on March 25 -- one day before the other 28 Major League teams are set to begin the 2026 regular season. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. PT.
