Snow-covered field no obstacle for this team

Maybe all baseball should be played in the snow?

February 8th, 2021

Baseball is not a winter sport. The crack of the bat and the ball hitting a mitt are the sounds of summer. There's the green grass, the blue skies and the hot, humid August nights.

But what if, actually, no?

According to Reddit, this is the Komadai Tomakomai High School girls baseball team in Tomakomai, Hokkaido. It's the same high school Masahiro Tanaka starred for in the mid-2000s, so you know they mean business. The girls team was apparently formed last year and they'll practice by themselves or sometimes with the boys. And yes, they'll train in single-digit temperatures on snow-covered fields. Look at that pile of snow out in left. It's like a winter version of Tal's Hill.

With the slipping and sliding and diving, baseball looks like a lot of fun in the winter. Maybe it's a year-round sport after all?
