announced himself to the greater baseball world during the 2026 World Baseball Classic with Team Australia, but he’s now riding quite an early season hot streak in the Minor Leagues.

The 2024 No. 1 overall pick collected three hits, including a pair of doubles, for Triple-A Columbus in Thursday’s 11-10, extra-inning loss to Iowa. That extended his hitting streak to six games -- including four multihit performances.

The left-handed-hitting second baseman struck out and grounded out in his first two trips to the plate Thursday, facing rehabbing Cubs lefty Matthew Boyd in a tough matchup. The Guardians’ No. 1 prospect and MLB Pipeline’s No. 16 overall then lined out in the fifth before heating up.

Bazzana took an 0-2 fastball the other way and turned it into a hustle double in the seventh. He singled on a 1-2 pitch -- again to the opposite field -- to lead off the bottom of the ninth, and then came around to score the game-tying run on a CJ Kayfus double.

Bazzana once more turned a two-strike offering into extra bases in the 10th, pulling an RBI double down the right-field line to make it a one-run game. Representing the tying run, he advanced to third base after a walk and hit by pitch but was stranded there, with Iowa closing out a wild one.

Bazzana is now up to a .282/.378/.451 slash line through 17 games. He’s still searching for his first home run, but eight doubles and two triples have him already almost halfway to his outputs in those categories from 84 games in 2025.
