HOUSTON -- In association with Major League Baseball, Scotts and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, the Astros announced the opening of a new ballfield for the Morefield Boys & Girls Clubs on Wednesday.
The new field was unveiled at a special dedication ceremony Wednesday morning. Following the ceremony, the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation led a baseball clinic on the new field for 50 young athletes from the Boys & Girls Clubs.
"These field refurbishments are just one way we can give back to youth and communities across the country," said Josh Peoples, vice president and general manager of Scotts, in a press release. "Encouraging fans and family to get outside and enjoy activities like baseball is what this program is all about."

The Astros recognized representatives from the Boys & Girls Clubs on the field at Minute Maid Park during a pregame ceremony before the Astros faced the Mariners. The Astros also hosted 50 members of the Morefield Boys & Girls Clubs for the game.
The effort is part of Scotts' "It's Good Out Here" field refurbishment program, a partnership with MLB to give back to communities by renovating youth ballfields across the country over the next three years.
"Making baseball and softball accessible to underprivileged youth is a big part of what we do at the Astros Foundation and with our Community Leaders program," said Twila Carter, Astros Foundation and community relations executive director, "and we couldn't be happier to have a newly renovated ballpark available to young Houston athletes."
