Double-A San Antonio pitchers combine for shutout

Hunter Renfroe hit his 25th home run Sunday, and right-handed pitchers Eric Yardley, Walker Lockett and Emmanuel Ramirez all had scoreless starts in the Padres' system.
Renfroe (.331) was 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs as Triple-A El Paso (58-44) split a doubleheader at Sacramento. The Chihuahuas won the second, seven-inning game, 4-0, after losing the opener, 5-1. Renfroe leads the Pacific Coast League in homers and RBIs (87).
The submarining Yardley (3-0, 4.19 ERA) started the second game and allowed two hits with no walks and five strikeouts over five innings. Left-hander (two walks and a strikeout in an inning) and right-hander (a hit and a walk with a strikeout in an inning) completed the shutout.
In the first game, right-handed starter (4-1, 4.73 ERA) allowed five runs (four earned) on 11 hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Right-hander Derek Eitel (3.08) got the final out.
First baseman (.444) was 2-for-3 with his eighth homer. First baseman (.294) was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Second baseman (.328) was 3-for-7 with a walk and a run scored in the doubleheader.
Lockett and reliever combined on a five-hit shutout in Double-A San Antonio's 5-0 win over Midland in San Antonio. The Missions are 15-15 in the second half and 37-63 overall.
Lockett (1-1, 2.63 ERA) allowed four hits with six strikeouts over eight innings. The right-handed Guerrero (5.16) allowed a hit with two strikeouts in an inning.
Catcher Ryan Miller (.324) was 2-for-3 with his third homer and three RBIs. Left fielder Nick Torres (.275) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a RBI.
There were two moves Sunday. Class A Fort Wayne placed infielder-outfielder Kodie Tidwell on the seven-day disabled list. Infielder-outfielder Tyler Selesky was promoted from the Arizona Rookie League Padres to Fort Wayne.

CLASS A ADVANCED LAKE ELSINORE (19-11, 51-49): Rancho Cucamonga 17, STORM 4. 3B Josh VanMeter (.269) was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. DH Ty France (.357) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. RF Franmil Reyes (.242) hit his ninth homer in four at-bats. Starting LHP Thomas Dorminy (1-6, 8.93 ERA) allowed five runs on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings.
CLASS A FORT WAYNE (10-19, 46-53): TinCaps 8, BELOIT 7. C Marcus Greene Jr. (.220) homered in a third straight game, going 1-for-5 with a grand slam to finish with four RBIs. 1B Brad Zunica (.266) was 3-for-5 with two doubles and his 14th homer for two RBIs and two runs scored. Starting RHP Jake Nix (2-4, 4.28 ERA) allowed five runs on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six innings. LHP Elvin Liriano (2.73) allowed two runs on a hit and a walk in three innings to get his second save.
SHORT-SEASON TRI-CITY (19-18): Ramirez (2.62 ERA) allowed four hits and three walks with nine strikeouts over six scoreless innings. RHP Evan Miller (2.93) allowed two hits with three strikeouts in two shutout innings. RHP Diomar Lopez (4-0, 2.42) allowed four runs on five hits with two strikeouts in an inning to blow the save, but got the win when Tri-City scored two in the bottom of the ninth on run-scoring singles by Luis Asuncion (to tie) and Taylor Kohlwey (for the walk-off win).
ARIZONA ROOKIE PADRES (12-15): Padres 6, GIANTS 1. 3B Denzell Gowdy (.276) was 3-for-5 with a run scored. LF Dayon Olmo (.267) was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. C Tucker Pennell (.343) was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored. SS Ariel Ortega (.243) was 1-for-3 with a walk, a RBI and a run scored. Starting RHP Lake Bachar (1.83 ERA) allowed a run on two hits and a walk with four strikeouts in three innings. RHP Starlin Cordero (1-1, 3.95) allowed three hits and a walk with three strikeouts over two scoreless innings. RHP Jonathan Guzman (9.60) gave up four hits but no runs in 1 1/3 innings. RHP Kyle Gauthier (4.15) allowed a hit with a strikeout in 1 2/3 scoreless innings. RHP Wilmer Torres (1.59) pitched a perfect ninth.
