Club will have two televised games vs. World Series champion Cubs

January 10th, 2017

CLEVELAND -- A little more than one month remains until the Indians officially renew their quest for World Series glory. When Spring Training does arrive, Cleveland will see the World Series champion Cubs twice within its Cactus League slate, with both games scheduled to be televised.
On Tuesday, the Indians announced their TV and radio plans for the spring, noting that eight games are set to air on SportsTime Ohio as part of the preseason coverage. That includes the American League champion Tribe's tilts on the road against the Cubs on Feb. 26 and at home at Goodyear Ballpark on March 27.
Pitchers and catchers are expected to report to Cleveland's spring headquarters in Goodyear, Ariz., by Feb. 12, with that group's first workout scheduled for Feb. 14. The position players are then expected to report on Feb. 16, with the first full-squad workout planned for Feb. 18. The team's photo day is scheduled for Feb. 24 and the Indians open their spring schedule against the Reds on Feb. 25.
Cleveland's Opening Day game will be on April 3 on the road against the Rangers, and the Tribe will return to Cleveland for its home opener on April 11 against the White Sox.
Beyond the two games against the Cubs (3:05 p.m. ET on Feb. 26 and 9:10 p.m. ET on March 27), STO will televise Indians games on Feb. 25 (Reds), March 14 (Giants), March 17 (at Rangers and home against the Reds), March 18 (Rangers) and March 29 (Reds). The March 17-18 games against Texas are scheduled to be held at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The Indians will have six night games this spring: March 8 at Seattle, March 17 vs. Cincinnati, March 17 at Texas, March 27 at Chicago Cubs, March 30 at Arizona and March 31 at Arizona. The March 30-31 contests will be a pair of exhibition games against the D-backs at Chase Field to conclude Cleveland's spring schedule.
This spring, there will be 15 radio broadcasts, including 10 on WTAM 1100-AM, three on 99X 99.1 FM and two on WMMS 100.7 FM. The full TV and radio broadcast schedule, along with the Indians' Spring Training schedule, can be found at indians.com/spring. Games not on TV or radio in Cleveland will be on indians.com.
