Pipeline Preview: Bradley looks to stay hot for Akron

July 5th, 2017

Here's a look at top prospects to watch in today's Minor League action:
Hitter to watch: Bobby Bradley (Indians' No. 3), Akron at Harrisburg (6:30 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Bradley, 21, stayed hot on Tuesday by going 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI in Double-A Akron's win over Harrisburg. The No. 81 overall prospect has hit .436 with four home runs, six doubles and 17 RBIs over his past 11 games to improve his season slash line to .270/.361/.517. He's tallied 15 home and 15 doubles as well as 57 RBIs in 74 games, all while vastly reducing his strikeout rate in his first taste of the Double-A level.

Pitcher to watch: Chris Flexen (Mets' No. 23), Binghamton at Altoona (7 p.m. ET on MiLB.TV)
Flexen dominated in his last turn for Double-A Binghamton, allowing one earned run on one hit (a solo home run) with a season-high 10 strikeouts over six innings in a win versus Hartford. With the performance, the 23-year-old righty improved to 3-1 in his four Eastern League starts, during which he's posted a 1.69 ERA with a 0.64 WHIP and a 29-to-0 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 26 2/3 frames.

Duel of the day: Sixto Sanchez (Phillies' No. 4) vs. Alex Wells (Orioles' No. 16), Lakewood at Delmarva (7:05 p.m. ET)
The most recent addition to MLB Pipeline's Top 100 Prospects list, Sanchez, at age 18, boasts some of the best arm strength in the Minors in the form of a fastball that routinely touches triple digits and sits in the upper 90s. What's more, he already knows how to command it, as evidenced by his 46-to-4 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 45 1/3 innings (nine starts) for Class A Lakewood. Overall, he's pitched to a 2.98 ERA and 0.84 WHIIP while holding hitters to a .205 average.

Wells, meanwhile, will attempt to get back on track for Delmarva after finishing the month of June with a 4.46 ERA in six starts. The 20-year-old left-hander has been solid in his first full season despite the recent struggles, as he enters the day with a 3.14 ERA through 83 innings spanning 15 starts.
