BOSTON -- After multiple hours of continuous rain peppering Fenway Park on Wednesday, the series finale between the Red Sox and Indians was postponed about two hours after its 7:10 p.m. ET scheduled start time.
The game has been rescheduled for Fenway Park at 6:10 p.m. ET on Aug. 14, a date previously marked as an off-day for both sides.
In a matchup of the 2016 American League Division Series, Boston's (4-14, 4.55 ERA) was scheduled to face (9-8, 5.25 ERA) of the Indians. The rainout cuts short the first series of the season between the American League foes, with their next full series taking place later this month in Cleveland from Aug. 21-24.
Porcello will start the series opener at home Thursday against the White Sox, with the other starters in the rotation pushed back one day.
It's the third postponed game of the year for the Red Sox. Boston moved games on April 6 against Pittsburgh and April 25 against the Yankees due to rain.
