MINNEAPOLIS -- The Brewers' long road trip ended on Tuesday with only scant progress for starting pitcher Matt Garza and reliever Corey Knebel, both of whom traveled with the team to St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis but haven't yet resumed throwing.
Garza is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right lat, and Knebel is out with a strained left oblique.
"I don't think either of them are close," manager Craig Counsell said. "If I'm not getting updates from the trainers, then we're not [close]. They have to start playing catch before we have anything."
Another injured reliever, Will Smith, remained in Milwaukee throughout the road trip to continue rehabbing his right knee injury. He has a torn LCL, but there's hope he will return to action without undergoing surgery.

Knebel spent time in the visitors' clubhouse at Target Field on Tuesday receiving electrical stimulation therapy on his left side. The portable device delivers a current to the affected area, improving blood flow and speeding healing. The right-hander said he was feeling "great."
"But they say this is the dangerous part," Knebel said. "They want you to feel good for a while before you try to do anything. Hopefully, soon."

Knebel was expected to start the season as a key late-inning reliever for the Brewers. Garza was supposed to start the season as the team's No. 3 starter.
