Dodgers target home opener for Kendrick, Grandal

Lefty Ryu set to face hitters for first time on Thursday or Friday

SAN DIEGO -- Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Monday he remains hopeful that injured second baseman Howie Kendrick and catcher Yasmani Grandal will be active for the club's home opener against the D-backs, a week from Tuesday at 1:10 p.m. PT.
Both players started the season on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 25, Kendrick with a strained left calf, Grandal with a strained right forearm. Each is eligible to come off the disabled list on Saturday, when the club will play the third of four games in San Francisco.

Roberts added that left-handed pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu, returning slowly from last year's left shoulder surgery, is scheduled to face hitters in Arizona for the first time on Thursday or Friday.
