NEW YORK -- J.D. Davis' first at-bat at Yankee Stadium is one he'll remember.
Davis, making his second start for the Astros since he was called back up from Triple-A, slugged a towering three-run homer in the second inning of Monday's 5-1 win over the Yankees. Davis connected on a 3-1 pitch from starter Domingo German and sailed it 381 feet into the left-field seats to put the Astros ahead, 3-0.
"I kind of blacked out around first and second, and when I came around home it kind of hit me. I was like, 'Wow, first at-bat, home run at Yankee Stadium.' It was pretty cool," Davis said. "Being in the dugout with all the guys was special."

According to Statcast™, the homer had a 40-degree launch angle, making it the highest home run by launch angle at Yankee Stadium this year. Davis has been one of the top hitters in the Minor Leagues this year, batting .415 with 17 doubles, four homers and 36 RBIs in 33 games at Fresno.
"He was hot when he came up, and we haven't had a chance to get him in here as much as we want him to," Astros manager AJ Hinch said. "He'll get a few more at-bats here moving forward. It's a big jolt. It's one of the things he can do. He brings his power to the game every day, and that was a big jolt that we needed to get into that game, a big three-run spot against a guy that had pretty good secondary stuff as well and a really good fastball. It proved to be very big as the game went on and we had a tough time scoring."

Davis, who hit for the cycle last week for Fresno, made the Opening Day roster for the first time in his career this year, but he was sent down when Yuli Gurriel was activated from the disabled list.
