KANSAS CITY -- Jac Caglianone exited Saturday’s 4-3 loss to the Blue Jays at Kauffman Stadium with left elbow soreness, the team announced.
It’s unclear when Caglianone first felt the elbow soreness, but he made two throws from right field in the early part of Saturday’s game, one that went to home plate after third baseman Josh Rojas made a throwing error on Alejandro Kirk’s infield single.
On that play, the ball skirted past first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino and bounced off the photo well wall in foul territory, allowing Caglianone to chase it down coming in from right field. He made a throw from shallow right as Vladimir Guerrero Jr. raced home, sliding in safely.
In the second inning, Caglianone unleashed a 95.2 mph throw from right field on Ernie Clement tagging up from second base, with the throw cut off by Bobby Witt Jr.
As the Royals jogged out for the top of the third inning, it was Nick Loftin taking over in right field instead of Caglianone.
Caglianone was 1-for-1 at the plate on Saturday with his RBI single in the first inning.
