BOSTON -- Jackie Bradley Jr.'s monster May has helped to put him in the running to make his first All-Star appearance.
As the second round of balloting was released on Tuesday, the Red Sox's center fielder had moved up to third place among American League outfielders, with 937,571 votes. He joins Mike Trout and Lorenzo Cain in the top three. Boston right fielder Mookie Betts ranks sixth.

The Red Sox have two current leaders at their positions. David Ortiz, who is having a prolific final season at the age of 40, has a commanding lead at designated hitter, with 1,460,339 votes. He has more than double his closest competitor, as Kendrys Morales is second with 650,077 votes. Big Papi is trying to make his 10th All-Star appearance and first since 2013.
Xander Bogaerts, who has been one of the best pure hitters in the game the last two years, is in front at shortstop, with 1,040,465 votes. Bogaerts was a Final Vote candidate for the All-Star Game last year, but he wound up not making the team.
Bradley was the AL Player of the Month in May, when he had a 29-game hitting streak. Bogaerts had a 26-game streak snapped last week.

Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is also off to a strong start and ranks fourth at his position, with 509,261 votes. Houston's Jose Altuve is the leader, with 893,332 votes.
Hanley Ramirez has made a nice transition to first base this season, and his 420,275 votes put him fourth at that position. Eric Hosmer of the defending World Series champions Royals is the current leader; he has 1,272,557 votes.
Travis Shaw is yet another Red Sox player in the top five at his position. The third baseman, who is having a strong first full season in the Major Leagues, ranks fifth at the hot corner, with 353,302 votes. Baltimore's Manny Machado is the current pace-setter, with 898,715 votes.
Fans can cast their votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on their computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2016 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 30, at 11:59 p.m. ET.
