Chourio, Vaughn begin rehab assignments, eye Monday return to Brewers

April 30th, 2026

MILWAUKEE -- Brewers left fielder and first baseman both began rehab assignments with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds on the road against the Norfolk Tides on Wednesday night and got into the action right away.

Chourio drew a leadoff walk in the first. Vaughn, batting second, singled to move Chourio to third. Chourio was later thrown out at the plate attempting to score on Jeferson Quero’s flyout. Chourio walked again in the third and scored on Quero’s double. He grounded into a forceout in his only other at-bat.

Vaughn flied out and grounded out in his other two plate appearances.

Both were replaced in the Sounds’ lineup in the fifth inning, as had been planned.

Chourio and Vaughn each have been sidelined by fractured bones in the left hand.

Chourio was placed on the injured list on Opening Day with a fractured bone at the base of his left middle finger, which he originally suffered on a hit-by-pitch during a tune-up for the World Baseball Classic. Vaughn fractured the hamate bone in his left hand that afternoon against the White Sox and underwent surgery on March 30.

They are targeted to rejoin the Brewers on Monday in St. Louis.
