JUPITER, Fla. -- Marlins right-hander Janson Junk was wearing a boot on his right foot as a precaution after rolling his ankle on Tuesday.
Junk, who said initial testing looked good, will see a doctor on Wednesday and "go from there." He sustained the injury during dynamic warmups, when his foot got caught. The ankle didn’t swell up and looked similar to his left one.
The 30-year-old Junk last threw a pitch design session on Saturday and was scheduled for another on Wednesday.
"Probably not going to do that," Junk said. "We'll just take it day by day and see what doc says, but initial testing, like I said, [head athletic trainer] LJ [Petra] checked it out, and swelling wasn't there at the time. So that's good. Just achiness, and feels like I rolled it."
Junk, who is vying for a spot on the Opening Day roster either in the rotation or out of the bullpen, had a career year in 2025. In 21 games (16 starts), he posted a 4.17 ERA and a 3.14 FIP.
"At least it gives me some time to kind of recoup; it's just annoying building up and everything," Junk said. "I was feeling really good. It is what is."
