Cubs activate J-Hey, option Rosario to Triple-A

CINCINNATI -- Prior to Friday's 8-1 win over the Reds, the Cubs activated outfielder from the disabled list. To make room on the 25-man roster, left-hander was optioned to Triple-A Iowa.
Heyward, who lined out to center in a pinch-hit appearance Friday then stayed in the game to play right field, was placed on the 7-day concussion DL on May 8 (retroactive to May 7) due to symptoms of a concussion. He participated in baseball drills Wednesday in Atlanta. He was not in Friday's starting lineup, but could get into the game.
"If possible, if it presents," said Cubs manager Joe Maddon on whether Heyward would play Friday. "Otherwise, Saturday is the perfect day to get him going again. Doubleheader tomorrow, we got to spread out the work anyway. If we play him tonight, then we'll end up playing him tomorrow, and I don't know that's fair. I thought it's better to do it this way."
In 29 games this season, Heyward is batting .227 with two home runs and 14 RBIs.
