ARLINGTON – exited Wednesday’s game against the Rangers shortly after being hit by a pitch in the top of the fourth inning.

Domínguez was clipped near the left elbow by an 89.1 mph Nathan Eovaldi cutter. He was in obvious discomfort, but remained in the game to run the bases. The Yankees later announced that he had a left elbow contusion, X-rays were taken and further imaging is required in New York.

Max Schuemann replaced Domínguez in left field for the bottom of the inning. Schuemann made his Yankees debut after being recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday.

The Yankees have envisioned a lane for Domínguez to receive regular playing time, especially against right-handed pitching, after Giancarlo Stanton landed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right calf strain.

Domínguez’s exit came on the same day the Yankees designated veteran outfielder Randal Grichuk for assignment, clearing a roster spot for right-hander and No. 3 prospect Elmer Rodriguez to make his Major League debut.
