Jasson Domínguez’s month of May has been one for the ages.
According to Opta Stats, Domínguez is the first player in MLB history to hit three home runs in a game, homer from both sides of the plate in a game, hit a grand slam and hit a walk-off home run in the same month.
Domínguez accomplished those first three feats in the same game against the A’s on May 10, when he crushed three home runs -- two from the left side of the plate and one as a right-hander -- including a grand slam for his third homer.
And on Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, Domínguez hit his first career walk-off home run and the first such homer by a Yankee since Sept. 20, 2022, snapping a 974-day drought with no walk-off homers from the Bombers.
It’s been a long time coming for the 22-year-old, as The Martian was one of the most hyped prospects in baseball history. The youngster is now playing a pivotal role for a squad that is 30-19 and has a five-game lead in the AL East.
