Segura sits out with hip discomfort

Infielder did not play Sunday or Tuesday as precautionary measure

MIAMI -- D-backs leadoff hitter Jean Segura felt discomfort in his hip following Saturday's game against Colorado. Nothing serious, the club reports, it just tightened up on him.
"Our guys are beat up a little bit," manager Chip Hale said. "These guys have been playing a ton."
For precautionary measures, Segura sat out Sunday's game and did not start in the series opener on Tuesday with the Marlins.
"He's doing better," Hale said. "He's close [to returning]. It's not really a hip flexor, it's just a little knot in there.
"He came out and ran [before Tuesday's game], and he ran well. But he was just a little worried. He didn't feel like he could go 100 percent. If he doesn't feel it, we'll just back off. We feel like one more day [off] would be great."
The D-backs played in 20 consecutive games without an off-day until Monday. It ties for the longest such streak this season. Arizona will play consecutively from Aug. 9-28.
"That's very tough on any athlete," Hale said.
