Broadcaster Francoeur COVID-19 positive

July 21st, 2020

ATLANTA -- Braves broadcaster Jeff Francoeur recently tested positive for COVID-19. The former outfielder used Twitter on Tuesday night to reveal this diagnosis. He said he has been asymptomatic.

Francoeur had been looking forward to being in the booth on Tuesday night, when FOX Sports South broadcast the Braves’ exhibition game against the Marlins at Truist Park. It’s too early to know when he might be cleared to return to work. But he will likely miss the entirety of the regular season’s first road trip, which begins Friday against the Mets and concludes July 29 against the Rays.

Hall of Famer Tom Glavine, Chip Caray and Francoeur will serve as FOX Sports South’s broadcasters again this year. Glavine and Caray will serve as a two-man booth until Francoeur returns.
