Peña (left leg discomfort) out of Astros lineup for series opener vs. Twins

HOUSTON -- Astros All-Star shortstop was out of the lineup Monday with left leg discomfort, according to manager Joe Espada.

“He came in today, he has a little left leg discomfort,” Espada said. “He’s seeing the doctor right now. That’s the reason why he isn’t [the lineup] today.”

Espada said Peña’s discomfort was “just general left leg,” and not one area specifically.

“He’s seeing the doctor right now to determine what’s going on,” Espada said.

Peña is hitting .295 this season with six home runs and 21 RBIs, but he’s been hitting .307 since coming off the injured list on May 18. He missed over a month earlier this season with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain.

Nick Allen was activated off the 10-day IL on Monday and started at shortstop. Allen went on the IL on June 8 with a left hamstring strain and missed 19 games.
