OAKLAND -- The A's are turning to a familiar face to bulk up their bullpen depth from the left side, agreeing on a Minor League contract with Jerry Blevins.
The deal, confirmed by MLB.com on Monday, would guarantee the veteran pitcher $1.5 million if he's in the Majors, per MLB Network insider Joel Sherman.
Blevins, 35, broke into the big leagues with the A's in 2007, and he spent parts of seven seasons in green and gold, serving as an integral piece of the '12 postseason club.
Since departing the A's via free agency, Blevins has been pitching in the National League East, most recently enjoying a four-year tour with the Mets. The lefty struggled to the tune of a 4.85 ERA in 2018 but averaged a 2.87 ERA over 91 innings from '16-17.
Blevins has long had success against left-handed opponents, holding them to a .216 average during his 12-year career.
Blevins now emerges as a strong candidate to break into Oakland's bullpen, which features just one other southpaw in Ryan Buchter.
