No. 1 prospect Made leaves game with quad contusion

MLB Pipeline No. 1 overall prospect Jesús Made left Double-A Biloxi’s game on Wednesday with a left quad contusion after colliding with a teammate while attempting to field a fly ball.

Playing shortstop for the Shuckers, the Brewers' prospect drifted back into the outfield to track down a fly ball from visiting Columbus’ Archer Brookman to lead off the sixth inning. But Made and left fielder Josh Adamczewski ran into each other, and Brookman’s ball dropped, resulting in an error charged to Made.

Made lowered himself to the ground after the play and remained down for a few moments, then got up but was clearly in pain while team trainers examined him. He stayed in the game for the rest of the sixth inning without seeing any further action at shortstop before being replaced by Dylan O’Rae to start the seventh.

The severity of the injury remains unclear, but any missed time will be detrimental to Made, who is batting .276 with six home runs, 43 RBIs and a .776 OPS in 59 games for Biloxi. Crowned MLB’s top overall prospect after Pirates shortstop Konnor Griffin graduated from prospect status, Made had a nine-game RBI streak in May for the Shockers.
